House for an Art Collector

This substantial stone house in the Adelaide Hills was built almost exclusively with recycled materials and using traditional construction techniques. It reflects the owner's quirky style and was designed to accommodate his ever changing and growing collections. The entry room is a generous two storey space which can house large objects, and the upper level serves as a painting studio. The owner's profession as a chef dictated a substantial working kitchen. The style of the house was driven by the owner's sense of whimsy, as well as the incorporation of specific recycled elements.
